Don't be the durak.

Beat every card played at you, throw in what you can, and get rid of your hand before the others do. Whoever is left holding cards is the fool: the durak.

Bots need no account. Your browser deals, and they play in it.

How it works

How a game goes

Two to six players, six cards each, and one suit turned up as trumps for the whole game.

4IvanDEFENDS24TRUMPSDISCARDLEADSThrow in a matching rank,or call it done.Done9:41

Attack

The leader plays any card at the player on their left. The others may throw in more, of any rank already on the table.

6Ivan5MashaLEADS18TRUMPSDISCARDDEFENDSBeat every card,or take them.Take9:41

Beat it or take it

Each card is beaten by a higher one of its suit, or by a trump. A defender who can't, or won't, picks up everything on the table.

Get rid of everything

Everyone draws back up to six while the talon lasts. Once it is gone, an empty hand is out, and the last one holding cards is the durak.

Beyond the deal

Everything a table needs

Your table, your rules

Podkidnoy or perevodnoy, everyone throwing in or only the neighbours, on 24, 36 or 52 cards, for two to six players.

Pass it on

In perevodnoy, a defender who has beaten nothing yet may lay a card of the same rank beside the attack, and the next player has it all to beat.

Six levels of bots

From a beginner who blunders to a Grandmaster: a network that taught itself the game over millions of games against itself.

People and bots at one table

Open a table and others join it from the lobby. Deal when you are ready, and every empty seat gets a bot at the level you choose.

A game that never stalls

Every decision has 15, 30 or 60 seconds. Anyone who leaves or keeps running out of time has a bot play on for them.

Nobody can peek

Online, the server deals and referees every move, and each seat is sent only what a player sitting in it could see.

The old custom, kept

The first game at a table is led by the lowest trump. Every game after it is led against the last durak, as it always has been.

Made for a phone

The table fills the screen, in any browser and soon in an iPhone app. In English, Russian and German.

FAQ

Is it free?

Yes. Playing costs nothing, against bots or against people, and there are no ads.

Do I need an account?

Not for the bots: practice is dealt and played in your browser, with no account and nothing sent anywhere. To play people online, you sign in with your Google account.

Where can I play?

In any current browser at durak.zyfron.com, on a phone or a computer. An iPhone app is on its way to the App Store, with practice against all six levels played on the phone, and it uses the same account.

How strong are the bots?

The first three levels slip on purpose, one move in 3, 6 and 15. Level 4 never slips, level 5 plays every move out in 24 imagined deals, and level 6 is the network. Heads-up against level 5, the network leaves it the durak in 88.5% of games.

What data does it keep?

What an account and a table need: your Google account ID and email address, your display name and picture, and the record of the games you play online. Practice games never leave your browser. No ads, no analytics and no tracking. The privacy policy lists everything.

How do I delete my account?

In Settings, whenever you like. If you can no longer sign in, email us from your account's address and we delete it within a month. Your past games stay on the other players' records, without your name.

Somebody has to be the durak.

Make sure it isn't you. Open durak in your browser and take on the bots, or sit down with people online. Nothing to install.
